Turning Military and Professional Expertise into a Platform for Mental Wellness

Omar Ritter’s professional career has taken him from West Point to the military, from combat service to Wall Street, and from executive finance roles to becoming a fractional CFO, professor, motivational speaker, and mental health advocate.

But behind that professional success was another story.

For more than two decades, Omar carried mental health challenges that he rarely discussed openly. His decision to write West Point to Wall Street: My Journey to Mental Wellness changed that. What began as a deeply personal story became a platform for encouraging conversations about mental health, resilience, vulnerability, and hope.

The Challenge

Omar had an important story to tell, but telling it required more than putting his experiences on paper.

He needed a publishing and marketing partner who could help transform a deeply personal memoir into a professionally produced book while preserving the authenticity of his voice and the importance of his message.

The book also needed to reach beyond traditional book audiences. Omar wanted his experience to encourage people to talk about mental health, ask for help, and recognize that vulnerability and strength can exist together.

The Strategy

TrustPub approached the project by looking at both the story and the person behind it.
The strategy focused on positioning West Point to Wall Street as more than a memoir. It became a vehicle for Omar to share his experiences with military service, professional success, adversity, and mental wellness while opening a broader conversation about mental health.

The goal was to connect the book with audiences interested in mental wellness, veterans, leadership, resilience, personal growth, and professional development.

The Publishing Journey

TrustPub guided Omar through the publishing process, coordinating the many details required to move his manuscript from draft to finished book.

This included publishing strategy, editorial coordination, production, cover and interior development, distribution, and launch preparation.

The book was released through Amazon and IngramSpark, giving readers access through major retail and distribution channels. Omar also developed additional formats, including an audiobook, allowing his story to reach people who prefer listening to reading.

The publishing process gave Omar more than a finished book. It gave him a professional platform from which to continue sharing his story.

The Result

West Point to Wall Street has developed into an important part of Omar’s professional identity.

The book has earned strong reader response, with Goodreads showing a 4.78 average rating from more than 40 ratings and 35 reviews. Amazon and other sellers show 70 reviews with a 4.9 rating. It has also received the 2025 International Impact Book Award and the Literary Titan Book Award.

More importantly, the book has helped Omar expand the conversation beyond the printed page.

He has appeared on dozens of podcasts discussing both mental health and his professional experience as a fractional CFO. His public message centers on encouraging people to check in on one another, take mental health seriously, and understand that asking for help is a sign of courage rather than weakness.

The Author's Perspective

“Before collaborating with Rick, I needed greater visibility for my book. I was particularly focused on reaching podcast audiences and generating more reviews from readers. With Rick’s guidance, I was able to significantly enhance my visibility—seeing my reviews increase from twenty to seventy thanks to the strategic exposure he provided.
Working with Rick was a fantastic experience. He secured appearances on several excellent podcasts, which not only helped spread the word about my book but also led to a notable increase in readership. The combination of his expertise and the connections he facilitated truly made a difference in my book’s reach.

Having a polished and actively promoted book has had a profound impact on my professional and personal mission. It has empowered me to pursue motivational speaking opportunities more aggressively and establish myself as a thought leader in my field.

Thanks to Rick’s support, I feel equipped to share my journey and insights on a larger platform.” – Omar Ritter, https://www.omarritter.com

What's Next

Omar’s book is now supporting a much larger professional platform.

As a board advisor, fractional CFO and financial modeling expert, motivational speaker, college professor, doctoral candidate, and mental health advocate, he has multiple audiences with whom his message can resonate.

The book provides a natural starting point for speaking engagements, podcast interviews, leadership discussions, professional events, articles, and conversations about mental wellness.

Omar has also made it clear that his purpose extends beyond telling his own story. He wants the story to help others feel less alone and encourage more open conversations about mental health. His public work continues to connect mental wellness with resilience, leadership, and personal growth.

For Omar, West Point to Wall Street became more than a memoir. It became a way to turn personal experience into professional purpose, build his authority around an important subject, and use his visibility to encourage conversations that can make a difference in other people’s lives.
